Term 2 – Kelly Sports

Every Tuesday throughout Term 2, our students have enjoyed participating in Kelly Sports sessions. These fun and engaging activities gave students the opportunity to develop their sporting skills, teamwork, confidence, and resilience through a variety of games and sports. It has been wonderful to see students actively involved, encouraging one another, and giving their best effort while staying active and having fun.

Samoan Language Week

Samoan Language Week – Term 2 Week 7

During Week 7, our class proudly celebrated Samoan Language Week. We enjoyed exploring Samoan language, culture, and traditions through a variety of learning activities. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the important place of Samoan culture in Aotearoa and to celebrate the diversity within our school community. Fa’afetai to everyone who helped make the week a special and meaningful learning experience. 🌺🇼🇸

Philippine Independence Day

As part of our Philippine Independence Day celebrations, we were fortunate to receive special video messages from Filipino teachers in the Philippines. They shared warm greetings with our Ruapotaka School community and expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to celebrate Filipino culture here in Aotearoa New Zealand. Their messages helped our students make meaningful connections beyond the classroom and reminded us of the importance of celebrating and learning about different cultures from around the world.

Term 2 Week 3

Welcome back everyone! Room 3 has dove right back into our learning for the start of Term 2. As a class we discussed and learned about ANZAC day. This was a fairly new topic for Miss. Pasion as well since she is from Canada. It was great to see Room 3 take on that teaching role and talk about an honourable day here in New Zealand, and the different ways kiwis acknowledge their past fallen soldiers. Our class treaty, school values and how we can continue to show them in different settings were also discussed. Through these conversations, as individuals working in the same space, we created four goals to focus on for Term 2. Many of the students have similar goals which has encouraged them to work together and hold each other accountable for this term. Last week’s writing piece was based on the students’ goals, what kind of challenges they may face and how they can stay motivated, despite the difficulties. To wrap up this topic, each student has a comic collage of their goals that is featured through a slideshow on our learning site. Along with all of our classroom learning, room 3 has started Kelly Sports every Tuesday morning. The students will participate in a variety of games from a Kelly Sports coach helping our learners develop great sportsmanship skills. All of our Room 3 pictures from Kelly Sports can be found on our learning site.
